Orbit - Exposé for your jailbroken iPhone/iPod touch
Here I was, sitting here with my jailbroken iPhone, about to click “Restore,” when a tweet comes up in my timeline from hacker extraordinaire, Steven Troughton-Smith talking about his new Exposé like springboard hack. The idea came from an Exposé concept for the iPhone from earlier this week. Let me say that again, came from a CONCEPT. Steven got started on it, and within two hours had a stable version of Exposé running on his iPhone.

I was lucky enough to obtain the first build of it and it was amazing. Provided an easy way to get to the last few pages of apps and it was by all means a life saver (ok, maybe not a life saver, but you know what I mean.) But it was slow, after all, it was an out of the ordinary hack on a particularly slow device (iPhone 3G) but being himself, he made it faster by not loading each screen once Exposé (now named Orbit) was opened.
But it gets better. Steven recruited UI legend, Louie Mantia to design a sexy icon and UI for Orbit, which just made it all the more enjoyable.

Now you may be asking, what is so great about Orbit? I already have Categories and Stacks (also developed my Steven Troughton-Smith) what about Orbit makes it better then those? Well, Categories and Orbit are two totally different things. Categories is for managing types of applications and Stacks is a quicker and more elegant way to manage applications from the push of one icon.
To use it your going to need a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch running 3.0 or later. It is going to be available via the Cydia store later today or tomorrow for $1.99.
