iPhone 3.0 - 11 Pages!

I was playing around with the second beta that was released today and I found that you can now have 11 pages of applications! Check out the screenshot below for 11 dots that represent pages, at the bottom. When 3.0 is publically released this summer, iPhone and iPod touch users will have a (current) limit of 180 apps instead of 148 apps which is how many 2.0 can have.

Is the new beta stable enough to install (i’m registered as developer) ? I’m really reluctant as there is no way back…

Well are you sure you payed for developer.
Because everybody can register as developer but this still not gives you 3.0 unless you payed 99 bucks.
So don’t install 3.0 unless you really payed as developer.
It will brick youre iphone Harcore Style!!
So before you install it make sure you got developer subscription.

If I download the beta as a developer, will it render my phone unusable from a calling standpoint?

Isn’t the page on the far left reserved for spotlight search?

big deal. don’t we all use categories on our jailbroken phones?

That’s good to know that you can have more apps now. I wish Apple would allow folders to be made to store all the apps though. I’m jailbroken and only have 2 pages. It is much more organized than having 7 pages without the folders.

With the new OS, having Spotlight search feature, almost eliminates the need for a folder hierarchy. Simply slide the home screen to the left for Spotlight or hit the Home button from any screen with double click and enter your search criteria, be it an app, email, calendar event, note, etc.. the iPhone will display in category view all items matching… even in your e-mail.

This is separate from the e-mail search function which allows searching mail on phone and on server as well.

This may be an April fools’ joke, but if it isn’t, someone please tell Apple to forget about 11 pages of apps. We need folders or Stacks. Even Palm figured that out. Come on!!!

    Jonhwayne:

Agreed. And having stacks is a good idea too. The iPhone OS would seem so much more like Leopard if it had both of these features and if the springboard was changed a little.

I would, but I do not want to risk what can happen. Keep on looking. I’m sure at least one developer would be willing.

how is the Things app on the 3.0? I want to install it but was hesitant of losing the functionality for Things.

From what I’ve seen, Things works pretty well. I have yet to try syncing it but if your using just your phone/iPod, it should work good. I am currently using OmniFocus (which I’m hoping to have a review up by tomorrow night of it) so I’ve not spent a lot of time with Things yet.
